Philosophy
My Philosophy
I believe health begins with a return to the basics: nourishing food, simple lifestyle habits, and a deeper understanding of our bodies.
My approach draws inspiration from ancestral wisdom while taking into account the realities and individual needs of modern life. I pay particular attention to digestive health, the gut microbiome, and overall balance, recognizing each person as unique.
I support adults, children, and families through a compassionate, personalized approach that respects each individual’s pace. From preconception to the postpartum period, including the early years of life, my goal is to provide guidance tailored to every stage.
My mission is to help you better understand your body, regain confidence in your own abilities, and adopt realistic, sustainable changes that support your health and well-being every day.
Background
Claudiane Turcot Sutton supports adults, children, and families seeking to return to the fundamentals through a deeply nourishing approach inspired by ancestral wisdom and adapted to the realities of modern life.
As a naturopath, certified GAPS practitioner, postpartum doula, and yoga instructor, she supports individuals experiencing fatigue, brain fog, digestive concerns, hormonal imbalances, and various challenges related to nutrition and overall well-being.
She also has a particular area of expertise in perinatal care. She supports women during preconception, pregnancy, and the postpartum period, helping them address their energy levels, digestion, hormonal balance, recovery, and breastfeeding experience. She also works with infants and children experiencing digestive, nutritional, immune, behavioral, or developmental challenges.
Her approach emphasizes food quality, the connection between the gut and the rest of the body, and simple, sustainable lifestyle habits that naturally support the body’s overall balance and self-regulatory processes.
Through her GAPS certification, Claudiane pays particular attention to the gut microbiome and its relationship with digestion, immunity, hormones, child development, and overall well-being. Every care plan is personalized according to the individual’s or family’s history, needs, goals, and circumstances.
Her approach is compassionate, supportive, and practical. She aims to help each person better understand their body, develop greater autonomy, and implement realistic changes that can be maintained over time.
Because a well-nourished body has more resources to support its balance and function.
What Is the GAPS Approach?
GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome and Gut and Physiology Syndrome. This nutritional approach was developed by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, a physician, neurologist, and nutritionist, to highlight the relationship between the gut microbiome, the digestive system, and the functioning of the rest of the body.
GAPS places particular emphasis on the gut-brain connection and issues that may affect neurological development, attention, behavior, learning, and psychological well-being. Gut and Physiology Syndrome extends this perspective to other aspects of health, including digestive, immune, allergic, inflammatory, and hormonal concerns, as well as various chronic health conditions.
At the heart of the GAPS approach is the idea that the digestive system and its microbiome play a fundamental role in the health of the rest of the body. The GAPS nutritional protocol, particularly its Introduction Diet, aims to support the repair and integrity of the intestinal lining — a process Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride describes as “heal and seal the gut lining.”
To support this process, the diet emphasizes nutrient-rich foods that provide nutrients involved in maintaining and renewing the intestinal lining. The initial stages prioritize easily digestible foods, such as meat stocks, quality meats, and healthy fats, while temporarily eliminating certain foods and fibers that may be more difficult to tolerate. Fermented foods are also introduced gradually to support the gut microbial ecosystem.
The goal is to create favorable conditions for supporting the integrity of the intestinal lining, promoting digestive function, and encouraging a balanced gut microbiome. By working toward a healthier intestinal environment, the GAPS approach aims to support overall bodily function and may help alleviate certain symptoms and discomforts over time, whether digestive or experienced elsewhere in the body.
The protocol includes different approaches, including the Full GAPS Diet and the GAPS Introduction Diet, a more structured process divided into several stages. Foods are gradually reintroduced and expanded according to each person’s tolerance, progress, and individual needs.
